Animal Welfare
EyeCRO is committed to the highest standards of animal welfare in laboratory research. We believe that rigorous science and humane animal care are inseparable, and that better welfare produces better data.
Accreditation and Standards
Our Oklahoma City and Ann Arbor facilities hold full accreditation from AAALAC International, the gold standard for humane animal care in research. This accreditation involves regular independent evaluations of our program, facilities, and procedures against the standards outlined in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. All study protocols are reviewed and approved by our Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and our animals are cared for by trained veterinary and husbandry staff.
The Marseille Declaration
EyeCRO is a proud signatory of the Marseille Declaration, joining leading pharmaceutical companies including Novo Nordisk, Sanofi, Novartis, Merck KGaA, Lundbeck, LEO Pharma, and others in a commitment to advancing and implementing the highest standards of welfare in laboratory animal science. EyeCRO is the first US-based company to join.
Rabbit Housing
EyeCRO has invested in state-of-the-art rabbit housing that goes well beyond industry standards. Our rabbits are housed in spacious enclosures that allow free movement, exercise, and natural social behavior in groups of 4 to 6 animals. This group housing approach reduces stress, supports animal wellbeing, and contributes to more reliable study outcomes.
Our enrichment program provides rabbits with a variety of fresh vegetables, toys, and other stimulation to promote natural foraging and play behaviors. All housing areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, with rigorous daily sanitation protocols
