A2E Quantification

EyeCRO has developed a highly sensitive LC-MS for the quantification of A2E (Bis-retinoid N-retinyl-N-retinylidene ethanolamine), that accumulates as a result of the visual cycle and can contribute to neuronal cell death and destabilization of retinal homeostasis. In the Abca4-/- mouse which is deficient in the photoreceptor outer segment flippase, there is a age-related deposition of A2E in the eyecup.
